with a portfolio by PATRICK SARFATI
Patrick Sarfati re-interpreted the male image for men in the ’80s. He was the avatar of the masculine image, and the gay male, back when it was still taboo, long before the Stonewall riot of July 27, 1969. And while some photographers, like Pierre et Gilles or Bruce of Los Angeles chose eroticism, Sarfati stuck with a similar male theme within the realm of the more traditional 20th century photographers, picturing life and the politics of the gay world as much as its flamboyance and secrets.
