Driving through Rome, Pietro Beccari, CEO of Fendi, heard on the radio about a stone falling from the decaying Trevi Fountain and got the idea to help preserve Rome’s fabled waterworks. His Fendi for Fountains has dedicated over two million euros to the project. During the summer 2013 couture season, daguerreotypes and platinotypes by Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi’s long-time designer and collaborator, were on view along the Seine in an exhibition titled “The Glory of Water” organized by Gerhard Steidl, who produced the accompanying catalog and pictures.
