Stephane Ashpool TV Takeover
Fresh from his men’s F/W 2016 collection and winning the 2015 edition of the ANDAM Prize, we’ve asked Paris-based Pigalle designer Stephane Ashpool take over Purple TV. Ashpool selects some figures which inspire him to bring the theater back into fashion, from Thierry Mugler, his friend and partner in the Pain O Chokolat crew Oko Ebombo, and Folklore Russian Dance. “It was the first time in my career that I worked with two of my oldest friends, Nicolas Peduzzi who directed the short film and the impressive actor Paul Hamy who played his first role for us. This was just the beginning. I hope to push this collaboration into a long version one day. Surely on an other subject than this one. We presented the film at the famous Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord where after all characters went out on stage to show their clothes which was my F/W 2014 collection.” – Stephane Ashpool

In 1995, the F/W Haute Couture fashion show by Thierry Mugler at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris celebrated 20-years of the creator’s career. “He has always been one of my idols. His shows fuelled all sorts of emotions. The clothes was free and the girls had attitude. Please let’s all get together to bring back more theater into fashion” – Stephane Ashpool

Stephane Ashpool TV Takeover – Romy Schneider in L’Enfer by Henri-Georges Clouzot
“It was a hard choice because it’s almost cliche. Everyone loves it so strongly but the sensuality of Romy mixed with the work of light from Clouzot became my favorite visual art piece of all time. It’s a total ‘chef oeuvre’ that has always stayed in my mind in one way or another.” – Stephane Ashpool
