PIERRE LE-TAN drew his first cover for The New Yorker at 18. Many others have followed, and the Parisian man-about-town has remained one of the most important and secretive illustrators in France. With a few pencil lines he is able to capture the essence of his subjects,
infusing them with a quiet nostalgia, a charming naiveté, and a delicate touch of irony. He drew this new series of portraits especially for Purple.
