Each piece in Ugo Rondinone’s Mountains series combines two to six hefty rocks, each painted a rainbow color and stacked one on top of another on a concrete base. In each densely powerful sculpture, the Swiss artist, now a New Yorker, conjures the iconicity of Brancusi’s totems from Warhol’s neon colors to make eye candy out of stone.
