A trip to Wye River after the bushfires, Victoria

On December 19th 2015 a devastating bushfire caused by a lightning strike was lit and consequently broke through the containment lines, blazing through the small towns of Wye River and Separation Creek. A total of 116 homes were destroyed during Christmas.
The pungent odor of the blackened forest can be smelled from afar. The sight of complete obliteration of life transmits a post-apocalyptic, dream-like scenario only comprehensible to those having experienced this tragedy. Only the vastity of the ocean nearby transmits vigorous hope and serenity.
