OOIOO / UMO (2006) by Shoji Goto
This May Day we look back at one of favorite music videos from OOIOO. Founded by Boredoms drummer (and occasional trumpeter and vocalist) Yoshimi P-We, OOIOO was allegedly founded as a “fake band for a magazine photo shoot” and would later open for Sonic Youth in 1997. UMA comes from the fifth studio album Taiga released in 2006. Directed by Shoji Goto the video melds multiple techniques, including stop-motion, CG and 2D.
