What Is It? Trailer by Crispin Glover

Showing tonight at the ICA is Crispin Glover’s “Big Slide Show,” a one-hour dramatic narration of his books by himself, accompanied by slides projected behind him, and his 2005 film “What Is It?” Part one of the IT trilogy, “What Is It?” features a cast of largely comprised of actors with Down’s Syndrome, though that is not what the film is about. Crispin once described it as “the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe, and how to get home whilst being tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche.” An actor for over 30 years, most famously appearing in films like Back to the Future and Charlie’s Angels, Glover is known for his quirky on screen characters and his eccentricities behind the camera.
