New York New York Happy Happy (NY NY HP HP) a benefit by Ed Fornieles by Ben Clotten and Kyle Morrison
Rhizome presents New York New York Happy Happy (NY NY HP HP), a benefit by artist Ed Fornieles which took place in early November 2013. In this immersive performance, guests adopted a heightened persona and lost themselves in the glamorous world of a New York charity gala. The project mapped the narratives and character types that define the city’s society life onto a social event and its online representation, with inspiration coming from film and television—from Patrick Bateman to Woody Allen, Sex and the City to Girls. These worlds intersect, blending and clashing as the evening ran its spiraling course. Upon purchasing tickets, participants were contacted by the artist Ed Fornieles and given specific roles with certain cues to be performed over the course of the dizzying evening of charity and glamour.
