New photographic project by Matières Fécales in support of Sasha Colby’s Dolls Folies at the Folies Bergère theater in Paris
Ahead of the show, Steven Raj photographed the entire cast on the historic Folies Bergère stage, creating a series of portraits featuring an intergenerational group of trans performers from around the world. The cast includes artists such as Amanda Lepore, Gigi Goode, Sasha Colby, Lewis G Burton, Allanah Star, Sam Buttery, and many others, including performers in their 80s and 90s.
For the shoot, the artists were photographed wearing pieces from Matières Fécales’ couture and ready-to-wear collections, alongside Christian Louboutin footwear and Stephen Jones hats. Dolls Folies brought together an all-trans cast of cabaret performers, drag artists, musicians, and entertainers, with proceeds benefiting La Maison d’Allanah by Alannah Star and Stop Homophobie, organizations supporting LGBTQ+ refugees and members of the LGBTQ+ community in France.
