Scopophilia, the love of looking, is Nan Goldin’s latest solo exhibition at Matthew Marks Gallery. The show is a seductive combination of over 400 photos from the artist’s oeuvre paired with new images taken at the Louvre. The intensity of Goldin’s autobiographical works compliments her reproductions of art history’s great masters. This new context for existing imagery brings Goldin’s body of work into a new and exciting light. Through 23 December at Matthew Marks Gallery, 523 West 24th St. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
