One work by artist Anne Truitt dating from the 1970s and featured in Matthew Marks’ latest exhibition. Truitt’s wooden sculpture combines a heavy, durable material with the refined process of handpainted layers of richly colored paint. The work functions as sculpture and painting within the gallery space. Threshold: Works from the 1970s is on view at Matthew Marks, 522 West 22nd Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
