Combining interests in painting and photography, Jan Dibbets latest exhibition at Gladstone Gallery offers cropped, detailed images of car hoods. In their new context, the works look like abstract studies in color. Dibbets’ fragmented images revel in the power of shape, line and color over the actual object. On view through October 26th 2013 at Gladstone Gallery, 515 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
