In 1980, Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent purchased and restored French painter Jacques Majorelle’s garden. The garden’s contrast, colors and light make reference to Majorelle’s work, as this was where he came for inspiration and contemplation. The iconic blue used for the beautiful contrast of the garden is now known as Majorelle Blue. Today, the museum is home to Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent’s Islamic art collection.
