The Los Angeles assemblage artist George Herms continues to innovate and blur the boundaries of high and low art in his latest Chelsea exhibition. Herms’ rigorous and strict approach to collage balances the seemingly pieced together sculptures placed on pedestals throughout the space. The effect is a classic element of Herms’ practice which seeks sophistication in conflict of material and idea. On view through January 21st 2012 at The Susan Inglett Gallery, 522 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
