The work of the late Francois-Xavier Lalanne takes over the 24th Street gas station as a site specific installation, Getty Station. The presentation includes 25 iconic Lalanne sheep sculptures. The contrast between the frozen and serene animals and the vibrant gas station architecture creates a dreamlike atmosphere. The installation also functions as a dynamic focal point in an area housing many of New York City’s contemporary art galleries. On view through October 20th 2013 at Getty Station, corner of 24th Street and 10th Avenue, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
