Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson’s nine-channel video The Visitors investigates the collective experience of music. The powerful installation features nine medium format screens placed on the walls and in the center of the gallery. Each screen depicts a different version of creativity and environment. Nine individuals filmed in different rooms of the same house sing the same song with their own interpretation. Kjartansson’s work is appealing and thoughtful while the installation itself blurs the line between consistancy and variety in a successful way. On view through March 16th 2013 at Luhring Augustine, 531 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
