World-renowned contemporary artist Tom Sachs transformed New York’s Park Avenue Armory into a space station, immersing visitors into a large-scale installation titled “Space Program 2.0: Mars.” In his first feature film, director Van Neistat gives viewers an intimate glimpse into Sachs’s production—complex and rich with scientific ritual—following the crew as they embark on a risky mission to the red planet. A Space Program is a vivid work of art on its own terms. A Space Program is a captivating introduction to Sachs’ work for the uninitiated, and required viewing for his longtime fans.
The film is now screening until March 24th at The Metrograph.
