The new exhibition of Shirin Neshat melds the worlds of contemporary Arab conflict with historical texts such as The Book of Kings from 977 AD. As with previous bodies of work, Neshat portraits are powerful visual symbols and confront viewers through a dramatic play of light and dark. On view through February 11th 2012 at Gladstone Gallery, 515 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
