Phil Wagner’s repurposed found object paintings and sculptures give new life and motion to the discarded materials of Los Angeles. For his second solo exhibition at New York’s Untitled, Wagner recalls assemblage artists like David Hammons along with the graphic intensity of fellow LA based artist Sterling Ruby. The formal discrepancies between the materials and the end result add an exciting depth and reinvigorate the idea of street art. With Love is on view through October 14th 2012 at Untitled, 30 Orchard Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
