The myth of Bomarzo lives on-. The famous monstrous figures sculpted on volcanic rocks deep in the Lazio region of west-central Italy inspired Argentinian novelist Manuel Mujica Lainez for his most important novel. Composer Argentinian Alberto Ginastera used this story to write an opera entitled simply Bomarzo, for the Opera Society of Washington, to gave it a complex musical language. Half a century after its creation Bomarzo will be playing for the very first time in Spain at the Teatro Real of Madrid, as it is a reference point of Latin American music (and literature) of the 20th century. Do not miss one of the 5 performances from 24th April to 7th May 2017 at Teatro Real, Plaza de Isabel II, Madrid.
Read more about Bomarzo here, in our story from Purple Fashion issue 22 featuring photography by Gianni Oprandi and a text by Patrick Maurès.
