The latest exhibition at Anton Kern features Anne Collier’s reinterpretation of photography through a lense of glamour and sentiment. Following artists like Louise Lawler, Collier questions the nature of the photograph and specifically sexualized imagery. The work reflects post-Conceptual and Minimalist trends. The white backgrounds of her images remove the context for her subjects and is especially provocative combined with her use of nude women. On view through May 12th 2012 at Anton Kern Gallery, 532 West 20th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
