The most significant film is that of Dziga Vertov’s classic masterpiece Man With a Movie Camera. This extraordinary piece of film-making documents the Soviet urban life in 1929. Th montage of urban Russian life, work and play, is technically brilliant with it’s dissolves, split screen, slow motion and freeze-frames. This version of a BFI release is composed and performed by The Alloy Orchestra following Vertov’s notes on music to accompany the film.
