Live Through That?! by Lili Reynaud-Dewar

Purple TV presents an exclusive extract from the videos of French artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar’s exhibition “Live Through That?!” now on view at the New Museum in New York. For her first solo museum presentation in the US, Reynaud-Dewar has created a new, site-specific installation comprised of 4 videos, floor-to-ceiling curtains inscribed with excerpts from Guillaume Dustan’s 1996 book In My Room, and 3 bed-sound sculptures which include a soundtrack that incorporates her reading aloud from the sexually-explicit In My Room. Reynaud-Dewar pays homage to Bruce Nauman’s work Art Make-Up (1967-68) in her videos, in which she paints her nude body white, pink, green, and black, and dances in the empty gallery spaces at the New Museum during the transition period between exhibitions.
