Journey to Kaliningrad with Gosha Rubchinskiy teaser by InRussia

Today Gosha Rubchinskiy presented his F/W 2017 collection in the city of Kaliningrad – his first show in Russia since 2009. His open casting call was answered by young men from all over the country. InRussia documents the lives of three young men, chosen by Rubchinskiy, in their upcoming film.

Here, Krasnoyarsk-born Ivan Shemyakin, one of the upcoming film’s protagonists, recites a classic poem by Alexander Pushkin, known by every Russian schoolboy from Moscow to Vladivostok. The poem was originally dedicated to the convicted participants of the Decembrist uprising: on December 26, 1825 several army officers led a small force in protest against Emperor Nicholas I. The revolt was suppressed, officers were tried in court and exiled to the Siberian provinces – including the Krasnoyarsk region.

Yet, almost two centuries later, this poem still stands out as an ultimate gesture of moral support – a romantic symbol of youth and limitless bravery.
