“The Absence” by Attilio Solzi

Several prostitutes can be found along the Paulese highway connecting the cities of Milan and Cremona, in the north of Italy. Some of them have equipped themselves with chairs, which are chained to the road signs to avoid being stolen. “The Absence” is a study on one of these chairs. Used mainly in the late afternoon and at night, the chair is “abandoned” during the day. For about one year, Attilio Solzi has photographed this chair, every day, early in the morning or in the early afternoon, in the exact position where the prostitute left it.
