In Oscar Tuazon‘s third solo exhibition with New York’s Maccarone Gallery, the artist creates visual distortions through industrial materials enhancing the formal aspect of the work and removing narrative. Tuazon intentionally leaves behind finger prints on the aluminum surfaces to reveal the hand of the artist against these cold structures. Despite the rigid quality of sculptures and wall mounted pieces, Tuazon activates the space of the gallery by creating works specially fitted to the corners of its walls. America is My Woman runs through December 10th at the Maccarone, 630 Greenwich Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
