Leelee Sobieski photographed by Gerard Malanga wears DB blazer over the USA t-shirt in Adam Kimmel’s new look book.
Adam’s new meanwear collection is once again inspired by the New York artistic climate in the 1960s and ’70s. However, this season, instead ot invoking the spirit of an entire movement or group, Adam has fosuced his vision on a single character, finding inspiration in the photographs and films of Gerard Malanga. This legendary New York figure was a key member of Andy Warhol’s Factory, famously shooting the screen tests from 1963 to 1966, which chronicled the style, scene and personalities around him and Andy. The young designer utilized both his screen tests and his photographic archives as key touch points in designing his collection. In talking with Malanga and getting an intimate sense of his life, Adam Kimmel used all of these sources as a foundation, taking cues on the fabrics and the silhouettes. Tweed, birds eyes, corduroys, jeans and worker cottons in greens, grays, blacks, navy and stripes have all been updated and revised for us.
