Peter Hujar’s “Eyes Open in the Dark” show currently on view at Raven Row Gallery in London
A deeply moving exploration of the photographer’s later work, capturing the raw intimacy and emotional gravity of New York’s downtown scene in the late 1970s and early ’80s. The exhibition highlights his sensitive portraiture of friends, performers, and strangers as well as his poignant images of animals and urban landscapes. Curated with care, it also traces the darkening tone of his photography as the AIDS crisis took hold.
