Eckhaus Latta and Alexa Karolinski continue their collaboration with their newest video Family. Stemming from themes in the Eckhaus Latta AW13 collection regarding the inundating use of technology, a group of children were cast to represent the most vulnerable and receptive demographic. Set in a benign domestic space, the home acts as prop that could be situated in any suburb or city. Through their entrapment and unified attire, the children form a group of siblings interacting out of boredom. Some of the children wear clothing featuring Steve Jobs fanart prints, while others have been styled to look as if they are wearing pajamas. They are without external simulta aside from a looping video of plants playing on various monitors around the home. The harsh juxtaposition of “nature” with their fabricated surroundings further feeds their boredom, fixing them in an inescapable trance of disengagement.
