The Punk Singer is an in-depth look into the life of Kathleen Hanna, the lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill, and later the dance-punk trio Le Tigre. Hanna caught national attention as the voice of the “Riot Grrrl” movement and became one of the most famously outspoken feminist icons in the music scene at the time. She was a cultural leader for fans sick of complacent oppressive systems and unjust sexism. The documentary by filmmaker Sini Anderson takes us through 20 years of archival footage and intimate interviews with Hanna, and lets us into the fascinating world of this fearless leader.
