“Nature Manifesto” an immersive sound installation by Björk and Aleph Molinari, opened at the Centre Pompidou, until December 9th

Conceived as post-optimistic “Nature Manifesto,” this sound piece by Björk and Aleph addresses the unprecedented loss of biodiversity and ecosystem collapse. The piece merges Björk’s voice, as she reads the manifesto, with the cries of extinct and endangered animals, harmonizing them with natural soundscapes. This fusion provides a voice to the voiceless nature, transforming silence into sound and echoing through our collective imagination. The sounds were produced by Björk in collaboration with Robin Meier Wiratunga using IRCAM’s software instruments and AI models. The installation, featured on the exterior escalator of the Centre Pompidou (known as the chenille), creates an immersive auditory experience that reflects on environmental challenges, encouraging us to rethink our connection to nature and our role in its preservation.
