In our capitalist system, fashion doesn’t dictate aesthetics, public demands do. A vicious cycle thus emerges: creatives cater to the masses, the masses become what fashion dictates for them. For the creatives, limited in their role, the quest for a personal aesthetic becomes trivial, disorientating. Fuelled by this feeling disorientation, « Trivial Pursuit » presents the work of seven artists —all professionals within the industry— that challenge the grounds that we as consumers stand on: « the real or performed self », the true or the popular ?
