A provocative reexamination of the American Pop artist’s radical exploration of eroticism, body politics, and visual form. The exhibition spans Wesselmann’s iconic American Nudes, shaped still lifes, and his lesser-known, confrontational penis paintings from the late 1960s. With bold close-ups of genitalia and intimate objects, Wesselmann both celebrates and complicates sexual liberation, blending humor, vulnerability, and formal abstraction. The show highlights his ambition to make figurative art as impactful as abstraction, positioning his work within both the Sexual Revolution and a centuries-long artistic engagement with the human body.
On view until April 12th
