The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania is the largest private art museum in Australia. Founded by David Walsh, who gained his fortune by gambling on horse races and other high steaks sports, the gallery houses over $100 million worth of works in a $75 millon three level cliff-face museum. He has collected works to fall under his over arching curational themes of sex and death, believing that the pursuit of sex and the avoidance of death are the primary insticts of humanity. His collection aims to push the comfort levels of the museum goers in hopes of stimulating dialouge about the nature of art, and evaluating belief systems. Photo courtesy of the MONA
