Martin Margiela is celebrated with two exhibitions in Paris, one at the Palais Galliera and the other at Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs. This exhibition, which comes from the MOMU in Antwerp, highlights Margiela’s work for Hermès from 1997 to 2003.
Iconic since the late 80’s, the Belgian designer is one of the most admired talents in the fashion industry. Martin Margiela never stopped inspiring the artistic world, by reinventing a fashion show, embellishing the anonymity, or by honouring all types of bodies. The visit, accentuated by a repetitive sound of voice, is almost mesmerizing. Noble fabrics sublimate the perfect cut of the clothes, emblematic of Hermès. The display of deconstructed silhouettes shows how minimalism, luxury, and singularity are fundamental for the designer.
Paris. On view until September 2nd, 2018 at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, 107-111 Rue de Rivoli, Paris.
