‘La Collectionneuse’ marks the eighth year of Burc Akyol’s house — collection expressing sensuality and strength, tenderness and quiet confidence.
I first met Burc five years ago, when his apartment still functioned as both studio and showroom. I remember being struck by the tailoring and his vision — a modern, sophisticated Parisian chic that inevitably recalls Monsieur Saint Laurent, yet filtered through Burc’s own heritage and Turkish roots.
For Burc, every collection is deeply personal. After eight years of an almost ascetic devotion to his craft, he spoke of reconnecting with friends and rediscovering the joy of life beyond the atelier. That shift is palpable here. The collection feels looser, more instinctive, sensual in a quieter way, opening itself to different archetypes of women — though always with that particular Parisian women, seen often in Éric Rohmer’s films.
This time the collection is nearly half the size, which only sharpens its impact. More focused, more assured. Burc doesn’t design for everyone. You either understand it, or you don’t.
