Lucas Blalock’s latest exhibition with Ramiken Crucible pushes the limits of photography and plays with contradictions. The artist’s narrative merges reality and fiction while his compositions revel in the contrast between lucid detail and voids. Blalock’s work often relies upon overlapping imagery, unusual perspective and appealing color contrasts to yield a sense of Surrealism and upend traditional narratives in photography. Id, Ed, Ad, Od is on view through October 20th 2013 at Ramiken Crucible, 389 Grand Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
