On February 27th and 28th performance artist Ieva Misevičiūtė performed ”Lord of Beef” at Hauser & Wirth Zürich on the occasion of Rita Ackermann’s “Chalkboard Paintings.” In this performance Misevičiūtė presents a series of impersonations – dance and speech acts depicting objects, people, phenomena, and philosophical concepts. “Lord of Beef” goes back to the primal mimetic act that lies at the very basis of theatre and comedy. In performing inside the exhibition space and with the artworks Ieva Misevičiūtė created a fascinating dialogue in movement and gestures with Rita Ackermann‘s paintings.
Rita Ackermann‘s ”Chalkboard Paintings” is on view through March 14th at Hauser & Wirth Zürich.
