“Heat” is an electrifying dance performance where dancers move through the scene dressed in archival fashion from Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Dries Van Noten, blending high fashion, drama, and movement in a captivating show. Witenberg’s performance draws inspiration from Michael Mann’s 1995 film “Heat”.
Like the standoff between Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in Mann’s film, Witenberg’s choreography captures a similar energy of slow-burning suspense. However, she twists this dynamic into a trio, where one dancer is always left vulnerable, objectified, or weakened. Much like the way Mann’s film builds to intense robberies and emotional showdowns, Witenberg’s piece plays out like a ballet of shifting alliances and betrayals.
