Saturated Sorcery

Saturated Sorcery by Amanda Charchian

Saturated Sorcery is the first directorial collaboration between artist Amanda Charchian and musician Paz Lenchantin from the Pixies. One part music video and one part fashion film, it features the music of Entrance Band and clothing by Sister Jane where six girls clad in vibrant monochrome colored dresses pop against the stark and desolate landscape. Shot in Idyllwild, CA, a one mile above sea level mountain community which was recently ravaged by a two-week fire, Charchain explains, “A group of girls were sent in custom rainbow dresses made specifically for this shoot, to heal the blackened landscape. During a ritual with Holi powder, they made rain come from the skies on a very sunny day. The result of this true experience (!) are these images.” The film was shot all analog on super 8 with all the effects in camera as a stop motion animation. The film also features a Futuro House designed by Matti Suuronen.
