Purple is pleased to present Teacups, a painting exhibition by Los Angeles artist Robert Russell. Modelled after photographs found on eBay and with a distinct photorealistic approach, Russell elevates a seemingly ordinary object into a piece of idolatry. The paintings are marked by both a tenderness in their precision and subtle irony in rendering such delicate objects on a grand scale.
