A great body of work by Peter Piller at Andrew Kreps reworks the East German magazine Armeerundschau’s photographs of military vehicles and pin up girls. Piller’s images reveal the absurdity and destruction of war through stark contrasts and the artist’s own meticulous eye for the past. Umschlage is on view through May 18th 2013 at Andrew Kreps, 525 West 22nd Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
