Legendary Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto will talk about his recent projects, including the series Photogenic Drawings, which takes their subject from the early negatives made by W.H.F. Talbot between 1835–46. A major figure in contemporary photography Sugimoto returned to New York City’s American Museum of Natural History — the site of some of his earliest work — to photograph new habitat dioramas. He will also discuss his renewed interest in previous themes like architecture and movie theaters. The free talk takes place from 7pm on February 5th at The Getty Center, Harold M. Williams Auditorium, 1200 Getty Center Dr, 90049, Los Angeles. Photo Hiroshi Sugimoto
