“Elementos Vitales” features five filmworks from the late Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta, shown for the first time in the state of Oaxaca where they were created. The works are paired with newly commissioned installations by Frida Escobedo, Pia Camil, Solange Pessoa, Adeline de Monseignat and EWE. The installations act not only as artworks, but also as gallery seating for visitors as Mendieta’s films are looped. Installed on the site of the first private medical clinic in Oaxaca, “Elementos Vitales” presented by Masa Gallery will mark the inaugural exhibition in the newly imagined public art space La Clínica, founded by Ramon Jiménez Cuen, former director of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca.
