Opening this Friday June 29th, 2018, Team Gallery is presenting Ryan McGinley‘s latest exhibition “Mirror, Mirror“.
McGinley‘s ninth solo show at Team Gallery will showcase a new project inspired by artworks by Miranda July, Sol Lewitt, Rob Pruitt, and Yoko Ono, that he had been working on for the past three years. Involving participants ranging from 19 to 87 years of age provided with cameras, 35mm films, twenty mirrors each, and a set of instructions all sent to the subjects’ homes, the end product is a show that studies self-consciousness. How much and how little of it each person possesses is reflected in the resulting self-photographs that McGinley sorted through and selected himself to represent each subject.
“Mirror, Mirror” is on view until September 29th, 2018 at Team Gallery, 83 Grand Street, New York.
