Brian Kenny‘s first solo show with Envoy Enterprises taps into the disconnect of American youth though iconic symbols and personal manifestos. The stars and stripes of the country’s flag are dismantled and displayed alongside stream of consciousness texts over police shooting targets. The art world is no stranger to flag appropriation and distortion and Kenny‘s exhibition attempts to continue this legacy in relation to the current state of marginalized young Americans. On view through July 22nd 2012 at Envoy Enterprises, 131 Chrystie Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
