Last Steptember, Brendan Fowler was included in the new photography survey at The Museum of Modern Art where he presented a selection of his crashed plane pieces. He followed up this show with an exhibition at LAXART in January, debuting a series of pictorial works which marked something of a departure. The deceptively simple name of the show, New Camera, made reference to his latest means of production, namely, a commercial embroidery machine which he began to use as a sort of darkroom. The resulting images lay somewhere between textiles, painting, and photography. New Camera runs until April 1st at Half Gallery, New York. Photo Elise Gallant
