Purple Diary

[August 9 2012]

A hideous destruction. Despite all of the rallying from lovers of modern architecture and a call to be classified as an historical monument, the restaurant of the Thomas-Houston de Velizy-Villacoublay center has been destroyed – a major work by the architecture duo Claude Parent and Paul Virilio. Made of a strong brutalism, a clever construction, and a great formal force, this piece of Patrimony was a victim to a great lack of attention to our architectural history, which will one day judge the responsable parties for this destruction. Photo and text David Liaudet
