Jeff Wall’s latest exhibition at New York’s Marian Goodman Gallery intersperses large format landscape photographs with staged theatrical images which feel likes stills from the cinema. Wall’s almost life-size photographs of human subjects lends an intimacy to the work and invites viewer’s into the scene. The images of clothing are especially provocative. Wall’s practice intentionally avoids the realm of commericial photography and the intent of such images is left to the judgement of his viewers. On view through January 21st 2012 at Marian Goodman Gallery, 24 West 57th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
